Unclean
Hot off the heels of the underground success of his "Hyperjazz" project, the JACK returns to his home base for some PROPER TECHNO-INDUSTRIAL music in the grand GUNJACK style. "Nation of Hate" is hard as nails and twice as dynamic! Showcasing our man's "wall of sound" style to the maximum, this lead tune is bang into peak time business with an off beat kick! "Eastern Bloc" harkens back to the mythical "Slovak sound" with dry, call and response drums and a bit of Brazilian Batucada drums for good measure. The static lead and sense of velocity created leave little to the imagination as linear and rigid lines bring forth brutalist beat architecture. "Psychic Decay" feels like the long lost love child of early 2000's Birmingham industrial and angular electronic sounds from so called "IDM" in the 1990's. Sprinkled with modern adornments, the track has notes of Detroit and Sheffield that create a tense and romantic vibe atop thundering electro infused drums. Finally the title track "Unclean" is unlike most "techno" out there and is the most overtly "GUNJACK" of the 4. Off beat kicks call out, as the 3rd measure CLAP responds, to keep the disjointed drums in time. Cinematic and even "organic" textures, paint the colors of an abstract world the listener can experience between thundering, skeletal blasts. Another jewel in the Gunjack Series crown, providing a rich entry into an already impressive body of work. Essential.
