Alice Phoebe Lou began playing music as a busker after moving from South Africa to Berlin in 2012 and falling in love with a lifestyle that could be so self-determined. Over time, Alice has slowly learned to follow her own instincts and write without fear of judgment. With five independent album releases under her belt, Alice Phoebe Lou's DIY approach to releasing music is intrinsic to her artistic identity. Ultimately, she hopes that young people “can be inspired by the fact you can do things unconventionally.” Her latest single "You and I" is a haunting love song with wistful and romantic lyrics. The song is her first self-produced release, inspired by her intention to "harness the confidence it takes to create something based solely on what sounds good to me," Alice muses. "You and I speaks of longing and surrendering in love, it’s a confession and a prayer, a declaration that this is where we are and want to be and let’s stop holding back and dive deeper into everything together. It asks the other to let go of what has happened before and to be here now and dream up the future together. It’s about telling one another what our needs are so we can be there for each other in a deeper, more fundamental way."
